Ohio-based liberty Steel Products Holdings is investing in its Mississippi Steel Processing (MSP) facility to increase its capacity and productivity.
on December 5, Mark Reynolds, Vice President and General Manager of MSP, announced the installation of a state-of-the-art heavy gauge cut-to-length line and a stretcher leveling system, both being manufactured by Red Bud Industries. The
16 mm x 2,134 mm heavy gauge cut-to-length line will process coils up to 36,000 kg and will include unique features that reduce set up time and material handling, optimize throughput, and process more tons per hour, according to the official statement. The 15,000 mm stretcher leveler will significantly improve the surface quality.
“The Red Bud system will enable us to increase output, enhance quality, reduce production times, and hold the line on costs,” Reynolds said. The new equipment will start operations in the spring of 2020.
The increased productivity and capacity provided by the new hybrid system will enable MSP to expand its product mix and improve delivery times throughout the southern US market, Metal expert learnt. “This investment demonstrates our total commitment to offering the highest quality products and best customer service available in our industry,” Reynolds said.
In 2018, liberty Steel Products Holdings, which processes coated, cold rolled, and hot rolled steel and provides a variety of state-of-the-art blanking services, acquired a majority interest in MSP, located on the campus of Mississippi-based Flat Roll Group Columbus Division of local steel producer and metals recycler Steel Dynamics Inc. Its operational capacity is 750,000 stpy (about 680,250 tpy).
